Semi Carrying Milk Overturns near Mandan due to Snow.
Cookies anyone?
A Semi driver got caught in a ditch between 27th Avenue and 35th street at 7 am yesterday morning when their load overturned. The driver and the passenger both escaped injury and will not be charged for reckless driving. The weather was so bad, that there was a travel advisory yesterday due to the lack of visibility.
The semi was hauling 2500 gallons of milk and the health department was dispatched to help with the cleanup.
According to the Bismarck Tribune:
The driver likely won't face penalties.
"I think just with low visibility, it was tough for him to see," Peterson said. "I don't feel he was acting recklessly."
Much of south central and eastern North Dakota is in a no travel advisory due to Saturday's winter storm, which dropped 9 inches of snow by noon Saturday over Bismarck and Mandan, according to meteorologist Nathan Heinert, of the National Weather Service in Bismarck. By 1 p.m., the winter storm was moving out of the area and concentrating in eastern North Dakota.
In other news, a semi with girl scout cookies got stuck in a snow bank ten feet away from the milk. How great would that have been!
