Super Bowl Sunday – What Do North Dakotans Nosh?
Well, here it is - the weekend that the whole country has been waiting for....
...The BIG DAY where it seems the entire world is focused on a football game - 5-hour-long halftime entertainment, and don't forget the 30-second commercials that now cost
sponsors 7 million to air. THE Super Bowl. Ok now the obvious that I failed to mention, do you know what that is? Parties, FOOD, drinks, FOOD, and most of all the snacks.
Super Bowl Sunday - a tradition like no other
I mean, sure there is the Kentucky Derby for example ( it's over in less than the time it takes to eat a potato chip ) - there are always excuses for having an annual party,
The Oscars ( Yawn ) for example. Think about this staggering statistic - more than 100 million people tune in and without a doubt quite a few of them enjoy the snacks and
food more than the game itself.
So what would you guess is North Dakota's most popular Super Bowl snack?
Listen I am no chef, but if held a Super Bowl party there would be potato chips everywhere - for the simple fact that it's basically hassle-free, right? What would
your guess be for North Dakota's most popular Super Bowl snack? According to aol.com "The Most Popular Super Bowl Snacks in Every State" So is it chicken wings
or maybe some kind of tasty dip? Not even close - Drum roll....
Knoephla Soup
Here is what they say: "There is so much German influence in the Dakotas that it’s not a surprise to see Knoephla soup, a creamy German potato dumpling soup, as the number
one game day snack. I can see a big crockpot full of the stuff right there in the center of the snack table, glistening, beckoning, calling"
Good luck with that - don't forget the spoons!
