Before you wander away assuming it's Fargo, it's not.

This will indeed be magical.

I caught wind of this project on my new favorite North Dakota news/entertainment site The Dakotan.  They had an amazing eye-catching photo of a silo mural created by Australian Guido van Helten.  That's a link to his official website and you can see stunning murals he has created all around the world.

Now there is an effort underway to bring his amazing artistry to North Dakota.

Take a look at some of the massive murals van Helten has created...

Will this Midwestern set of silos be next to brag a van Helten mural?

North Dakota We Have To Make This Happen

From The Dakotan...

A new look is proposed for the towering silos of the former Minot Farmer’s Co-op Grain Elevator at 318 First Street NE.

Visual artist and photographer Guido van Helten has agreed to make the Magic City his next stop on the multi-state Monuments project, and paint the state’s largest public mural on the very visible grain elevator that has become a recognizable fixture of the city’s skyline.

Alright! Guido is on-board.  The landowner is on-board.  The city of Minot is crazy-happy on-board with the idea.

Now let's all scratch up the $350,000 that the project is going to cost. That's the plan of the Union Silos Public Art Project. The Minot Area Council of the Arts will spearhead the initiative as the official nonprofit. No city taxpayer dollars will be included in the project. Which will keep the city government's nose out of it.

I'm from Minot and I'm tickled about this project. They've done a great job of revitalizing much of the downtown area, but the space around the grain elevators has always been a bit of an eyesore. I'm sorry was that rude? It's true though,  I used to live in that neighborhood. Exciting news and hopefully this story kicks up those donations even higher.
