Have you ever played the lottery? I'll BET you have ( pun intended )

You set aside a couple of bucks every week, maybe play the same numbers EVERY week, and you may win a few dollars here and there - but the odds are that if you

increased the amount of cash you would spend, a betting man would predict your pockets would be hanging out empty. Most of us know the likelihood and hitting it big

is slim to none. Wagering sports events has always been a delicate issue. There was a time when you only found that in Las Vegas - you would see people doing their

homework on the teams involved and what the Las Vegas odds were posting. It's an enormous business.

The question is, can you bet on sports in North Dakota?

I'm sure you can just go to any bar and place your bets, right? Wrong. Only tribal casinos operated by the Dakota Nation Gaming Enterprise are allowed to offer

sports betting. Online sports betting just recently made another attempt to be legalized in North Dakota. Another betting law failed back in 2023. Unfortunately, this one did too

63-24 Wednesday in the North Dakota House of Representatives, I understand the arguments against the bill passing, according to northdakotamonitor.com  "Rep.

Lawrence Klemin, R-Bismarck, said he feared that online betting would take money away from North Dakota charitable gambling." That made perfect sense to me.

If you are curious, there are 30 states where online sports

betting is legal. I'm going to get into the dangers of the luxury and ease of being able to spend money and bet through your phone - however, I will pass on a pretty wise

thought a co-worker relayed to me - "Temptations and chasing your losses..." - That's always dangerous.
