BisMan records set-- no parade will be held outside to celebrate

Hey look, we all know when it's cold. A no-brainer. Most North Dakotans are well-equipped with all the winter gear they need to endure the long stretch. One of the first things I learned almost 11 years ago when I moved here from San Diego is "Layers":

Dress in "Layers" - The obvious time to do that, of course, would be NOW - winter time.

This is why I never really minded the cold weather. I found out almost right away that to help combat the temperatures, add extra clothes. Dress in layers. An extra shirt, and a sweater closely followed by a jacket. Well, this past week has been THE coldest days of my life, and many others here in Bismarck and Mandan.

Not just ONE, or TWO, but THREE records have been broken this week so far, and it's only Wednesday!

Some of the record temps that were broken have been around for a long time. Kxnet.com reported "According to the National Weather Service office, the temperature at 8:11 Tuesday morning, February 18, hit -39 degrees. That was enough to break the old record for the day of -37 degrees, set in 1910"

Where were you back in 1875? I'm pretty sure you don't remember this date

An even longer record was snapped this past Monday. "February 17, the low hit -35 degrees, shattering the old record of -30 set in 1875. February 13, the low dropped to -31, breaking the old mark of -28 set in 2021" Kxnet.com added. So it's safe to say that there is no parade set outside to celebrate.

Only in North Dakota

Finally, ONLY in North Dakota, the temperature can swing 85 degrees in less than one week - see THIS Sunday it is supposed to be 50 degrees - above 0!
