A true professional, no matter what job you may have, working in a career for 43 years takes amazing dedication

That is what KFYR TV's anchor Monica Hannan is known for. The business of delivering the news day in and day out is not easy, and it has to take a toll on you somewhere down the line. Personally, I find it next to impossible to even think about how it would be hard not to get yourself involved in some of the news stories that wind up on the air. A true professional is calling it quits.

Hannan just yesterday announced that her last day on air will be Friday, Sept. 26.

Now try and imagine how much Bismarck, North Dakota has changed in, let's say the past 20 years. Try doubling that and make it 43 years of reporting the news in North Dakota - watching our city grow and with that covering the good stories and the ones that you'll never forget. Just take a second and look at some of her accomplishments:

According to the bismarcktribune.com "Throughout her career, Hannan has earned three Upper Midwest Regional Emmys for "Best Newscast," been named "Best Anchor" by the North Dakota Broadcaster's Association three times and been a 10-time winner of Eric Sevareid Awards for her writing and reporting. Hannan was also the first woman to receive the Pioneer Award from the North Dakota Broadcaster’s Association in 2023"

". the people who make our audience so amazing."

No doubt Monica has seen how much TV News has changed - "The news business has changed a great deal over four decades, but what hasn't changed are the people who make our audience so amazing, I will miss the truly fine, genuine individuals who have helped to make my career in North Dakota so fulfilling."

Now it's time for her to relax and WATCH the news at home for a change.

Not all TV reporters last as long as she has. Remember when this happened?
