Don’t Even Think Twice About Doing This In Bismarck
Now that the temperatures are slowly climbing, we are bound to see this happen
Supposedly, the official start of summer begins tomorrow, June 20th, and lasts until September 22nd; however, this story I'm writing could happen on any hot day. I'm sure you have run across this situation before, maybe at the mall, or any place that brings out people who "just don't use their head." Someone or some people have left an animal in their car with the windows rolled UP
As unbelievable as that sounds, it happens all the time
I understand that people can make an honest mistake and completely forget that they have their dog with them, but even that seems far-fetched. Think about how warm an 85 degrees can feel, now imagine that inside a car with the windows rolled all the way UP. According to weather.gov ""The temperature inside a vehicle can rise 20 degrees in as little as 10 minutes, and 50 degrees in an hour. This can cause hyperthermia (heatstroke) in literally a matter of minutes" - Yikes.
Here comes the dilemma - what would you do?
If you found yourself in this situation, on a scorching hot day, and there was nobody around to help, would you break a window to unlock the door? I would, in a heartbeat. Is there a law protecting anyone from any legal action if you choose to break a window and rescue a poor animal? According to aldf.org ""Fourteen states have “Good Samaritan” laws which grant civil immunity for civilians rescuing an animal from an unattended vehicle under certain circumstance - North Dakota is at the lowest tier when it comes to your rights. Let's hope you never have to make that decision
