Open Letter To The Impatient People At This Bismarck Intersection
I can't even tell you all the times I have been honked at here at this intersection...
...and the annoying thing is, I know it's coming - If I'm the first vehicle at this stop light, within 3-5 seconds after sitting there PATIENTLY - I'm braced for the lovely sounds of someone honking at me - today I had the pleasure of TWO cars blasting away. As the seconds ticked away, I remained STOPPED at the light, and you know why...?
Yes, WHY did I continue to sit in our station's vehicle and not proceed?
Well here is at least one simple answer to those who still refuse to accept that traffic signs apply to them - take a simple look at the cover picture of this article - and this is at the corner of Bismarck Expressway and South Washington - see the NO TURN ON RED sign? I'm going to make a rough guess that at least half the time I obey those four words, I get semi-friendly gestures behind me. The crazy thing I don't understand one bit, is those that come to a brief stop, glance over to their left, and on their way they go, clearly ignoring it.
Now listen, I'm the first one who gets it - some may innocently claim that they didn't see the sign...
...it happens, however, for those of you who leaned on their horn at me, this morning, switch to decaf or something - give me a break and let me obey the traffic sign. Did you ever think that just maybe that same sign helps avoid serious accidents? Ok, I'm done nagging now.
