A jolting phone call at 1:54 this morning

We all know that it's usually NEVER good when your phone rings at 1:54 in the morning, and this is exactly what happened to Deborah Vollmuth and her husband Nick. Both are residents of around 150 people in Selfridge, North Dakota ( about 60 miles from Bismarck ) - These two amazing souls are on a list of volunteers who get called out by 911 - to help with a fire, that was about a mile away.

"The smoke was really heavy..."

For the last 15 years, Deborah has been the secretary and treasurer of the Fire Bar    Nick has been with them for around 40 years. This special group shares the same compassion and willingness to help out in their community. For about 10 and a half horrendous hours, the couple, along with others were at the scene - watching with sadness "a piece of history burn to the ground" - Early this morning the small town lost its Post Office.

You'll hear in the video thoughts on just how this fire started...

...and it's obviously under investigation - Deborah told me this afternoon that ATF, the FBI, Postal Inspectors, the Sioux County Sheriff, BIA Police, and even an Accelerant sniffing dog - For at least 75 years the building had stood - packed with memories, once again, a piece of history for those that live there. "People just stood and shook their heads - SO SAD..."  - They are slowly picking up the pieces and doing what they can to move on, and receive mail.

Let's hope if any foul play was involved they will find out what happened.

Bring justice to anyone who does something so cruel like this.
