Morton County Sheriff Busts Father and Son with Over 200 Pounds of Marijuana and Other Drugs
A Morton County Sheriff deputy arrested a father and son near Mandan on Sunday, February 4th for possessing over 200 pounds of marijuana and other drugs.
According to a press release, the father son duo had over 200 pounds of drugs worth roughly $1.1 million. The deputy discovered the drugs which included marijuana, THC wax and meth during a routine traffic stop at approximately10 a.m. near Mandan on Sunday morning.
The Morton County Sheriff deputy noticed suspicious behavior as he questioned the 53-year-old Robert Smith and his 24-year-old son, Christopher Conkey. Smith and Conkey claimed to be on their way to the Super Bowl to deliver fan gear. They denied having anything illegal, but told the deputy he could not search the vehicle.
A K-9 sniffed around the vehicle and picked up on the smell of an illegal narcotic. Along with $2,400 cash, a Metro Area Narcotics Task Force officer discovered:
- 210 pounds of marijuana
- 5 pounds of THC Wax
- 8 grams of Meth
The men were then taken to the Burleigh/Morton County Detention Center.
