Quick question - "What is the first thing you think of when you hear the two words "Role Model"?

For me, it is anyone who inspires me to try and adapt my ways of life to the one person OR persons that makes a difference in our World OR community. One man here in Mandan is a role model in every way. A man who is the driving force behind raising money and providing a clear road to brighter futures. A man with incredible people skills AND a man who sweeps you off your feet with Dairy Queen Blizzards.

23 years ago Mike Weiland answered a small-for-sale ad and destiny began

This morning here in Mandan, the owner and operator of the Dairy Queen on 1000 E Main Street answered my phone call. We chatted for about 20 minutes. Just recently a co-worker sent me this:

Over the last 15 years, Mike and so many other amazing people have raised $127,000

Children's Miracle Network ( CMN ) - 100% of the money raised goes to the Sanford Children's Hospital in Fargo. With his wife Kirstie ( "She's my rock..." ) and his three kids, as you can imagine Mike is an extremely approachable guy here in Mandan. As always, my favorite question to ask is "What's your favorite part of your job?" His answer was simple and perfect - "The interaction of others, I LOVE seeing people smile EVERY DAY"  I first noticed Mike a couple of years ago when on Mandan Dairy Queen's Facebook, there he was shaking hands and handing a check over to someone who was on their way to school. Here is an example of how Mike is a shining light for someone's future:

With a heart as large as his Blizzards, Mike Wieland IS a perfect role model, and we are lucky to have him.
